What We Do

Where We Are
AFGE represents employees in nearly every federal department and agency, in addition to government employees in the District of Columbia. Our highest membership concentrations are in the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Justice.


Organizational Structure
AFGE is headquartered in Washington with 12 regional district offices directed by their own national vice presidents. The national vice presidents and three executive officers comprise AFGE’s policy-making body, called the National Executive Council. There are also dozens of agency-based councils and nearly 1,100 locals
